Welcome to the Veggie Buddies Educator Certification Course.
This course is designed for teachers to teach the veggie buddies classes. The course takes approximately 2hrs to complete.
 
You may be thinking - how am I going to do this? I don’t know anything about gardening, or vegetables, or teaching in an outdoor classroom! But never fear - the following pages contain everything you need to know. After completing this course, you will be certified to teach the Veggie Buddies 10-week healthy eating and gardening curriculum. You will see that teaching this curriculum is easy. Your school veggie beds will no longer feel like a scary, unfamiliar place, but rather a warm and inviting environment that is exciting to teach in. All classes are aligned with the Federal Curriculum’s STEM subjects (Science, Technology, English, Maths) along with Health & Physical Education and Art. The core educational philosophy of the curriculum is ‘outdoor play based learning’. Play based learning teaches critical life skills of resilience, teamwork and creativity. Knowledge retention rates have been shown to be higher and it is central to a child’s fundamental enjoyment of childhood. Each class has been designed to be ‘teacher friendly’ with extensive background content, simple required materials, worksheets and an activity designed for each primary school stage: K & stage 1, stage 2 and stage 3.
